Special - "Praise.Eat.Study.Float" on Friday 22nd of May
On Friday the 22nd of May the Biblical Encounters Group will have a special session
on a float on the Oker.
A registration helps us to better plan as the price is based on person count.
The fee will be 12 Euro per person.
It is going to be a lot of fun - so please book early by writing to Raja

We'll meet at 18:00 at the bridge of Kurt-Schuhmacher-Straße.

The Biblical Encounters Group welcomes YOU !
On the fourth Friday of the month at 18:00 we welcome anyone, regardless of confessional or religious background, age or sexual orientation, who is interested to share insights, ideas, opinions and thoughts on biblical texts.
We meet alternatively in the rooms of St. Johannis Ev.-luth. Church, Leonhardstr. 39, 38102 Braunschweig and the International Student Congregation (ESG) in Pockelstr. 21, 38100 Braunschweig.
Usually, we start with some nice international food, get to know each other, share what has happened since our last meeting and do Bible sharing on the sermon text of the following Sunday. Following that we have a joint prayer incl. individual requests, sing a few songs and share the blessing.
We extend this invitation on behalf of English speaking members of St. Johannis and the ESG Braunschweig.

Le groupe « Rencontres bibliques » vous souhaite la bienvenue !
Le quatrième vendredi du mois à 18 h, nous accueillons toute personne, indépendamment de son appartenance confessionnelle ou religieuse, de son âge ou de son orientation sexuelle, qui souhaite partager ses réflexions, ses idées, ses opinions et ses pensées sur des textes bibliques.
Nous nous réunissons en alternance dans les locaux de l'église évangélique luthérienne St. Johannis , Leonhardstr. 39, 38102 Braunschweig, et dans les locaux de la Congrégation internationale des étudiants (ESG), Pockelstr. 21, 38100 Braunschweig.
En général, nous commençons par un bon repas international, faisons connaissance, partageons ce qui s’est passé depuis notre dernière rencontre et discutons du texte biblique qui servira de base au sermon du dimanche suivant. Nous poursuivons ensuite par une prière commune incluant des intentions personnelles, chantons quelques chants et partageons la bénédiction.
Nous vous adressons cette invitation au nom des membres anglophones de St. Johannis et de l'ESG Braunschweig.

4th International Worship Service on 26th of April !
On Sunday the 26th of April we'll celebrated our 4th International Worship Service at 5 p.m., this time again in the Martin-Luther-Haus, Zuckerbergweg 26, Braunschweig! People of different backgrounds (India, Syria, Eritrea, Ruanda, France, Zambia, Botswana, USA, Germany) participated in the service.
We were very happy to welcome Rev. Anne Matthys, an ecumenical co-worker of the Ev.-Luth. Mission in Lower Saxony (ELM) and Lutheran Pastor in Hildesheim (https://www.elm-mission.net/news/es-gibt-eine-menge-zu-lernen ). She preached on the theme "Accept one another, just as Christ accepted you" (Rom 15:7).
Also, we had beautiful renditions of the ESG Choir to musically enrich our service, as well as Pop-Cantor Karsten Ruß and our int'l worship band who accompanied us that day!
Many stayed after the service for lively time of fellowship and "Bring & Share" fingerfood.

Am Sonntag, dem 26. April, feierten wir um 17 Uhr unseren 4. internationalen Gottesdienst, diesmal wieder im Martin-Luther-Haus, Zuckerbergweg 26, Braunschweig! Menschen mit unterschiedlichem Hintergrund (Indien, Syrien, Eritrea, Ruanda, Frankreich, Sambia, Botswana, USA, Deutschland) nahmen an dem Gottesdienst teil.
Wir haben uns sehr gefreut, Frau Pastorin Anne Matthys begrüßen zu dürfen, eine ökumenische Mitarbeiterin der Ev.-Luth. Mission in Niedersachsen (ELM) und lutherische Pastorin in Hildesheim (https://www.elm-mission.net/news/es-gibt-eine-menge-zu-lernen ). Sie predigte zum Thema „Nehmt einander an, wie Christus euch angenommen hat“ (Röm 15,7).
Außerdem bereicherten wunderschöne Darbietungen des ESG-Chors unseren Gottesdienst musikalisch, ebenso wie Pop-Kantor Karsten Ruß und unsere internationale Worship-Band, die uns an diesem Tag begleiteten!
Viele blieben nach dem Gottesdienst noch für eine lebhafte Zeit der Gemeinschaft und ein „Bring & Share“-Buffet.

Le dimanche 26 avril, à 17 heures, nous avons célébré notre 4e culte international, cette fois-ci à nouveau à la Maison Martin Luther, Zuckerbergweg 26, à Brunswick ! Des personnes d'horizons divers (Inde, Syrie, Érythrée, Rwanda, France, Zambie, Botswana, États-Unis, Allemagne) ont participé à ce culte.
Nous avons été très heureux d’accueillir la pasteure Anne Matthys, collaboratrice œcuménique de la Mission évangélique luthérienne de Basse-Saxe (ELM) et pasteure luthérienne à Hildesheim (https://www.elm-mission.net/news/es-gibt-eine-menge-zu-lernen). Elle a prêché sur le thème « Accueillez-vous les uns les autres comme le Christ vous a accueillis » (Rm 15,7).
De plus, de magnifiques prestations de la chorale de l’ESG ont enrichi musicalement notre culte, tout comme le cantor pop Karsten Ruß et notre groupe de louange international, qui nous ont accompagnés ce jour-là !
Beaucoup sont restés après le culte pour un moment de communion animé et un buffet « Bring & Share ».
International Worship Service on 18.01.2026 at 17:00
"Sing to the Lord a new song" - Music, meditation and more...
On Sunday, the 18th of January 2026, the third Braunschweig International Worship Service took place in the Evangelische Studierendengemeinde (ESG), in the direct vicinity of the university, at Pockelstraße 21, 38106 Braunschweig at 17:00 o'clock.
This time the service happened with a slightly different concept: greater emphasis was given to new songs for a sing-aong with all worshippers attending.
The singing was led by pop-cantor of the Ev.-luth. Landeskirche Karsten Russ (in the picture on the right side), and accompanied by a small band from the Biblical Encounters Group, the ESG and St. Johannis.
The response was very good - John, one of the members of the band, said for instance: "This is exactly what is was dreaming about - I am so glad that we worshipped in the way we did!"

After a very encouraging start in February 2025 (see report further below) we are excited to offer another worship service on the 16th of November. This time we have quite a number of new participants who have shown an interest. They include:

Die Propstei Braunschweig lädt in Zusammenarbeit mit der Evangelischen Studierendengemeinde zum zweiten internationalen Gottesdienst ein. „Glaube, Hoffnung Liebe“ stehen im Mittelpunkt der biblischen Texte, der Musik und der Predigt, in der unterschiedliche, internationale Perspektiven zur Sprache kommen. Sie sind die Wege, die wir in der Begegnung miteinander als Brücke und Fundament im gemeinsamen Glauben an Jesus Christus gehen wollen. Wir freuen uns wenn Sie und Du dabei sein können: am 16. November um 16.00 Uhr im Martin-Luther-Haus im Zuckerbergweg 26, Braunschweig.
Die fremdsprachlichen Texte werden in englische Sprache übersetzt.
Vor dem Gottesdienst laden wir zum Begrüßungskaffee ein und im Anschluss zu einem Mitbring-Büfett (Bring & Share)
